Zavi Apfelbaum studied painting and print making in California and New York before making aliya to Israel in 1990. Throughout the years she
studied various techniques and media including courses at the University of California and Santa Monica College as well as
earning degrees in Psychology and Visual Arts from Columbia University. Upon immigrating to Israel, Zavi continued to develop her
art at the Bezalel Academy, as well as earning a masters degree in Communications and Journalism from the Hebrew University.
While she makes extensive use of photography, watercolor and charcoal as part of her artistic process, her primary medium
of expression is oil paint. Through this medium she sculpts her vision as it evolves on the canvas in a melding of reality,
impressions and emotion. Her works have been shown in Israel and abroad.
Since moving to Israel she draws inspiration from the beauty and history of this spiritual land. She now makes her
home in the pastoral Judean Hills overlooking the splendor of Jerusalem with her husband four children.
